Characteristics of an Innovator

A big fan of lists, I kept an article entitled The Innovator vs. The Pseudo-Innovator for its insight into the characteristics of an innovator.

It’s a good list for two specific reasons.

  • It’s a good description of attributes of creative people, especially in relation to innovation.
  • If you work in Change Management, and are a fan of Everett Roger’s Diffusion of Innovation – sometimes called the Bell Curve of Change – it’s also a great description of the Innovator, the first of the six modes of his theory.

I only kept a portion of the original article. Given that it was published in the Stone Age of the Pre-Internet, I don’t have more to add. (If you know more about it, please share!)

Curious if you have any thoughts to add?  Any other characteristics of an innovator you’d include?  Please add your thoughts and comments far below.
